My new club
Set navigation system: Golflaan 1. Leave on time, I don’t like to arrive late and definitely not for a job interview. This is the second time I am going to this location for a meeting. The first meeting was an oriented conversation, but this time it is a serious matter. There are two candidates left. Who the other one is I don’t know and that doesn’t bother me. Guus Hiddink? It would be nice if they choose for me then.
I can’t tell you much about the hotel. I entered the hotel through the backdoor and directly walked into a meeting room, that looked good. Coffee, tea and sodas were there to take from. Two members of the board of commissioners and the director of the club where there to join me for the second meeting. Talked for 1,5 hours. It was a good and interesting meeting. Now wait for two days because on Thursday the 18th of February the football club would make the decision.
My phone went Thursday at 17:00 (5 pm) and they decided to choose me. Till then we did not talk about the conditions (financially, duration, etc.) and you still have to agree on those matters as well. My agent Kees Ploegsma Sr. talked with the club about that Saturday the 20th of February. I was not there myself. Kees knows what I want so he could arrange that with the club.
Its done. A contract for two years. It is now officially news and reactions are to be expected. So be it. I am satisfied: I really have the feeling that they want me at SC Heerenveen, a new challenge and a new situation.
But first my focus is on FC Groningen, where my commitment will not be different than the last 8 years. We are also moving houses, while Heerenveen it is not that far away from Groningen. We are looking forward to start a new period in our life. So if anyone is looking for a house in Schipborg let me know. All in all good memories of the Fletcher Hotel Heidehof.
